Together we’ve been supporting young people for 30 years, giving 18,000 children respite breaks since 1992.

Formerly known as CHICKS, Go Beyond’s first breaks were held under canvas on a farm near Lydford Gorge in Devon. Whilst the charity was small, the vision was big.  Go Beyond saw the opportunity to make a lasting difference to young people by giving them a break from the challenges they faced in their everyday lives. They watched children grow in confidence through a week of outdoor adventure, friendship and support.  The charity’s name may have changed from CHICKS to Go Beyond but those core values still run through our breaks today.

In 1998, we moved from camping to a rented retreat near Milton Abbott in Devon and then in 2003, we took the leap of purchasing our first centre, ‘Coastal,’ in Cornwall. Most recently, we opened our Daleside Centre in Derbyshire in 2015, giving us the opportunity to support even more young people across the UK.

Your support

We owe a big thank you to all those who have been a part of the Go Beyond journey.  We are proud of everything we have achieved and look forward to giving even more children and young people lasting memories with us, long into the future.

Thanks to generous donations from all across the country, we continue to help young people get a break from their day-to-day challenges.

Our breaks make a lasting difference to children’s lives, giving memories that last a lifetime, hope and the belief that anything is possible. Shantelle from Plymouth came to us as a child and said: “My breaks made me realise that I mattered more than I realised, they made me believe in myself, more than I ever thought I could.” Our hope is for every child who attends a Go Beyond break to go home inspired by what the world can off them and what they, in turn, can offer the world.

Situated just outside the small hamlet of Fenny Bentley, Derbyshire, our Daleside Centre is a former farm and holiday cottage sitting within approximately 660 acres of Peak District about three miles (five km) northeast of Ashbourne. The town of Ashbourne provides local facilities including supermarkets, pharmacies, shops, public houses and restaurants alongside bus routes into the Peak District and Derby. With a cosy cottage and larger farmhouse available to hire at the Centre, you’ll find the perfect spot for a rural getaway to begin exploring all the Peak District has to offer.

My Story

“I’m different when I’m here, I’m not angry or stressed like I normally am. It’s because everyone is kind here, and when people are kind to you it makes you happy and you want to be kind back.” – Aaron

“I just can’t thank you enough. You’ve done so much to organise all these activities for us, whether it’s the big ones or the little tiddly bits. And you’ve just been there for us with everything this week, and I don’t think we’ve said thanks enough. So thank you.” – Morgan
